“I stalked his Spotify—and now I think he’s in love with someone else”

Sophie Blackman, our Editor-in-Chief, is answering her third dating dilemma for her new column, Dating Dilemmas with Soph. This week, she is answering whether to tell if he is in love with someone else through his Spotify.

One VavaViolet Magazine asked Sophie: “I stalked his Spotify—and now I think he’s in love with someone else.

“He made a playlist full of heartbreak songs with another girl’s name. Do I confront him or pretend I never saw it?”

Okay, but respectfully… stalking someone’s Spotify is not reliable evidence!
Playlists can mean a hundred different things—memories, moods, random obsessions, even just liking a song’s vibe. It doesn’t automatically equal “he’s in love with someone else.”
Before you spiral, ask yourself:
  • Has his actual behaviour toward you changed?
  • Is he acting distant, or are you connecting dots that might not be there?
It’s really easy to build a whole story from tiny clues, especially when you care. But right now, you don’t actually know anything for sure.
If it’s bothering you this much, the only thing that’ll give you a real answer is either observing how he treats you… Or eventually just asking.
Spotify is not a confession booth. Don’t let it convince you of something that might not even be real.
Admittedly, it is a little odd that it’s named after a woman, so if it is majorly bothering you, I would bring it up subtly.
