Lovehoney’s annual sex trends report is in! Last year, we saw more discussions about sex enter mainstream political discourse, and so it might not come as a surprise that 2026 is predicting a return towards traditional methods of dating and sextracurricular activities, with Gen Z leading the charge.
Making more meaningful connections - Has the one-night stand finally lost its appeal? Gen Z aren’t meeting their partner’s in nightclubs like the generations before them; only 19% report having met a sexual partner in a club in comparison to 26% of millennials, 42% of Gen X, and 46% of Boomers.
Analogue Dating - Although 3 in 10 Gen Z do still meet their sexual partners on dating apps, a large number are seeking a return to dating in person. In a post-COVID world, people are craving real human connection, and dating apps are comparatively impersonal.
Digital Encounters - Despite Gen Z prioritising in-person relationships, there has also been a rise in the number of people using AI to talk about sex. There are limitations to this, but it appeals to people because it can offer dating advice and sexual therapy, minus having to interact with a real person.
Fantasy Toys - Thanks to the rise of the Romantasy genre and the popularity of Rebecca Yarros Empyrean series, dragon dildos are being given their moment to shine in 2026. Lovehoney now offers 27 different products in its fantasy range, with a wide range of colours and sizes to choose from!
“Generation (se)X” - Proving they’ve definitely still got it, Lovehoney reports that Gen X are having twice as much sex as Gen Z, despite rising divorce rates. Gen X women, particularly, are choosing to embrace their inner sensuality and let go of sexual shame. Go on, girls!
Natural Aphrodisiacs - Gen Z are increasingly interested in self-care, and Lovehoney predicts this will extend into the sexual sphere. Their aphrodisiac chocolates sold out in the first two weeks, and there is definitely scope for introducing sexual wellness supplements to the market.
Astrology Dating - Over the last few years, astrology has played an increasingly significant role in dating, and a recent survey revealed that 31% would not date someone with an incompatible star sign. This one is more playful, really, but it does demonstrate how seriously the younger generation takes finding their perfect match.
Have you seen the growth in these trends so far this year, or are there any others you think we should have highlighted? Let us know in the comments!
