After the unpleasant taste Wuthering Heights appears to have left in some viewers' mouths, we thought we’d take a look at some of the sexiest upcoming movie releases of 2026 (and some notable mentions from the last month) to try and get us all back in the mood.
April was a fun month for film, thanks to the releases of Bunnylovr (10th), where a webcam girl finds herself in an increasingly toxic relationship with a client, and the long-awaited release of Mother Mary (17th). Hailed as one of 2026’s most talked about films and starring icon Anne Hathaway in the titular role alongside Michaela Cole, this psychological thriller follows a popstar and her relationship with her costume designer as she prepares a comeback to the stage. Oh, and there are witches.
It’s also impossible to write this without mentioning the most talked-about movie release of the year, The Devil Wears Prada 2, which blessed us with its presence on the 1st May. The reunion of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt truly brings tears to my eyes. “That’s all.”
Now, let's dive into the sexiest upcoming movies of 2026:
Girls Like Girls - 19th June
Although the UK release date has long passed, American audiences are still expectantly awaiting the release of Hayley Kiyoko’s directorial debut. Named ‘Girls like Girls’ after her 2015 hit single, this coming-of-age story follows a 17-year-old girl’s journey of self-discovery in the wake of her mother’s death.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass - 10th July
This romantic-comedy features an American all-star comedy cast including John Hamm, Zoey Deutch, and Ken Marino. After her fiancé sleeps with his celebrity hall pass, Gail Daughtry sets off on a hilarious revenge mission.
One Night Only - 7th August
At risk of being the most explicit option on this list, One Night Only is based on the premise that all pre-marital sexual activity has been banned except for one night per year. The purge-esque format is intriguing in a sexual context, and I’m excited by what this film has to say about power and control.
Sense and Sensibility 11th/25th September
This female-led Jane Austen adaptation has already been causing quite a stir. Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood, it has been adapted by Working Title and Focus, who were also responsible for the previous adaptations of Pride and Prejudice (2004) and Emma (2020). We are definitely excited about this one!
Practical Magic 2 - 18th September
The cast reunion we have all been waiting for! Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman alongside Diane Keaton and Stockard Channing, this film follows a family of witches who have been cursed in love. The original was praised for its female-centred approach, and the sequel promises to retain the themes of sisterhood and self-love that helped it earn its place as a cult classic.
Verity - 2nd October
Another all-star cast? They really are spoiling us this year! This erotic thriller is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel and features Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson in the leading roles alongside Josh Hartnett. It follows a ghostwriter who is hired to finish a writer's book series after she is mysteriously injured and is aptly being released at the beginning of spooky season, because everything is not quite as it seems…
Which one of these films are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments!
