Numerous studies have shown that Gen Z-ers are having less sex. According to Uhls, it stems from an epidemic of loneliness.
If you're feeling the effects of the 'sex recession', here are some things you can do.
Take time for exercise
A natural way to boost your libido is to partake in exercise. Cardio and strength training not only increase your stamina but also boost your mood. It can also help with any confidence issues you may be facing in the bedroom.
Factor in your mental health
Destressing is key to a good sex drive. Bad mental health, such as experiencing anxiety, will have you feeling agitated and in no mood for sex—remedy what is stressing you out to clear your mind. There are plenty of charities and organisations that can help you.
Talk to your partner
Opening up about your libido can help, despite feeling like it won't. Discuss if there is anything you can do to lift it, such as trying new, exciting things in the sack. You could also try watching porn together or going to a sex party.
Consider lifestyle changes
Smoking, drugs and eating bad foods can cause low libido. Swap these out for a balanced diet including fruit and vegetables. Drinking plenty of water can also aid in getting you horny and energised for sex.
Try a sex schedule
It may sound tedious, but setting up a sex schedule could lead you to more sexual encounters with your partner. Consider doing it once a week, or every two weeks if you find that once a week is too much to start with.
Re-think about your timing
According to a new study by Naturecan, a CBD brand, morning sex is more satisfying than any other time, with 7.30 am being revealed to be the best time to have sex. The study saw 500 men and 500 women in the UK, mainly in long-term relationships, aged 18 to 65, recording the times at which they had sex over six weeks. Overall, two-thirds of people chose morning sex as the most satisfying, between 7 am and 10.30 am, and just 33 per cent said they had the best sex at night. Because having sex releases endorphins, it has been suggested as a way to start the day in a good mood.
